Becky Wilmington passed away surrounded by her family on May 2, 2019, with confidence in her eternal home and resting place. Becky is survived by her husband, Jim Wilmington, and children David, Paul, and Kristie, who can attest to her continuous love and compassion for anyone she met. Becky was born to a family of adventure on April 4, 1953, in Austin, Texas. Dwayne Smith, an Army Sergeant, and Anne Smith, a horticulturist, were fond of the road and traveled with Becky and her siblings across the country, a tradition Becky continued with her own family. Her curious spirit took her to Texas Christian University, where she studied secondary education to share her love of literature with students. To the surprise of many, except her family, she sought adventure by enlisting in the Army. She quickly worked her way up to the rank of Corporal. After leaving the Army with full honors, she went back to her first love - books - and became a teacher, spending the next 25 years of her life serving the students of Austin, TX. She was a lover of all things art, music, and literature and passed that on to the hundreds of students she called her "children." The Wilmington family would like to invite you to remember Becky at her funeral scheduled for May 11th at 10:00 AM, with a reception to follow. Jim Shappe will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Becky's life.
